Our Work Isn't Done

By now, you’ve probably heard of the state laws that have been passed as recently as this spring to make abortion illegal at the early stages of pregnancy or entirely (with minor exceptions).  While those are wonderful, and we certainly hope they stand, we cannot rest on those laws to prevent abortion and save babies.  Women who are abortion-determined will find a way to end the lives of their babies, with or without these laws.  They can cross state lines, find an illegal abortion provider or try to terminate their pregnancies on their own, just as women have done for generations.

Instead, we need to pray for God to change the hearts and minds of these women.  We need to wake them up to the reality that abortion is murder and is never right, whether or not it’s legal.  We need to educate them that (1) their baby’s heart began beating just three short weeks after conception (2) there are alternatives to parenting if they’re not ready (adoption), and (3) God sees every life as precious – both theirs and their unborn baby’s (“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart”- Jermiah 1:5).

Even if abortion should get outlawed nationwide some day, we still need to work to help educate and provide resources to women who don’t want to parent or even give birth.  Our work is not done.  Please continue to pray and to help Heartbeat reach these women with the truth as you are able.
